“Garofallideio” building, located in the city of Myrina, with a total area of 501.23 sq.m. was erected in 1956 and has been designated as a Monument. It has been granted to the University of the Aegean, which intended to use it as classrooms and event halls. The building is made of stone and due to its age, the inappropriate environment and the lack of maintenance during the recent years, it showed signs of damage , for the restoration of which static interventions were necessary in its load-bearing structure.
Alphadelta constructions, carried out works for the reinforcement of the load-bearing masonry of the building and the concrete frame as well as works for the protection from corrosion caused to the steel reinforcement. Masonry walls that were in good condition were maintained while others were removed in order to shape the spaces for the new use of the building. The existing metal roof was replaced, while thermal insulation, waterproofing and sound insulation equipment has been installed in it. The old coatings were removed and new ones were installed as well as insulation materials were placed on the surfaces of the building. The old frames were replaced with new ones, exactly in the same shape and a suitable floor was installed, depending on the use of each space. With the completion of the electromechanical lighting and fire protection installations, an even building was handed over to the University of the Aegean, which meets the requirements for the desired uses.
